
A man from Bedworth, UK has been fined for breaking lockdown and travelling 14 miles to play Pokémon Go.
The man has since been fined $270 (MVR 4158 at 15.40 rate) for “contravening the requirement to not leave or be outside the place they live without a reasonable excuse”.
Though he was originally from Bedworth, he was arrested in Kenilworth, which is about a 25-minute drive away.
The UK is currently under strict lockdown laws, both because it has one of the highest per capita coronavirus death tolls in the world and because a deadly new strain of the virus has been discovered there.
Pokémon Go is quite popular in the Maldives and has an activecommunity of players.
