Microsoft has reversed its decision to increase the price of Xbox Live Gold.
The price increase drew a lot of controversy when Microsoft revealed that it would double the yearly cost of the service, which is necessary if a player wants to play games online.
Additionally, Microsoft also decided to (finally) make free-to-play games available without the subscription. This brings them more in line with the practices of Sony and Nintendo, when it comes to online subscriptions.
Microsoft made its announcement in a blogpost which began saying that they had “screwed up”, after which they added that their audience was right in voicing displeasure. This new change is good news for players who use Xbox Live Gold and for players who only used it to play free-to-play games such as Fortnite.
