HBO’s upcoming adaptation of the Last of Us has found its Joel and Ellie. The series will star Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie.

Pedro Pascal is a very popular actor known for his role as Oberyn Martell from Game of Thrones and as the Mandalorian in the Mandalorian.

Bella Ramsey made her acting debut as the massively popular Lyanna Mormont from Game of Thrones. She also starred in the lead role in the delightful animated series, Hilda.

The series was first announced in March and got a formal series order in November. It will be based on the video game with the same name and will take place several years after the fall of modern civilization due to a virus, which turns people into what are essentially mushroom zombies. Joel is a haunted man with a rough demeanor who is tasked with escorting Ellie to safety through some dangerous and infected terrain. The game is known for its heartwarming and heartbreaking story and well-developed characters. It also has a sequel, the Last of Us Part 2. The sequel won the Game of the Year for 2020.
