Rockstar has awarded a GTA: Online modder $10,000 for finding a fix that drastically reduces the load times of GTA: Online PC version.
Github user tostercx (also goes by the name t0st) published a post on Github with details on how the loading screen on PC version of GTA: Online could be reduced up to 70%.
t0st highlighted that this is something the developers working on the game could accomplish within a day. t0st also warns that his blog post should be taken as a proof of concept and that it is not intended for casual use.
Rockstar issued a statement to PC Gamer confirming that using the modder’s workaround to the load times was accurate and that they will be implementing this bug fix in a future update coming to the PC version of the game.
“After a thorough investigation, we can confirm that player t0st did, in fact, reveal an aspect of the game code related to load times for the PC version of GTA Online that could be improved. As a result of these investigations, we have made some changes that will be implemented in a forthcoming title update.” The company said in a statement.
