The official movie title for the upcoming Resident Evil movie has been revealed.
The movie is going to be called “Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City”.
The title was revealed by the film’s director, Johannes Roberts during an interview at the recent SXSW event. (You can find our coverage of the event here.)
The film will reportedly adapt the first two Resident Evil games and will include Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield, Leon S. Kennedy, and Claire Redfield as characters.
It will reportedly be set in 1998 and will show the city dealing with the zombie hordes.
Another point to make note of is the fact that this movie will not be in any way related to the Resident Evil movies we’ve been seeing occasionally from director Paul W.S. Anderson. Whether this movie can invigorate public interest in the Resident Evil franchise or whether it will be another bad video game movie remains to be seen.
