The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to get Next-Gen Update

The acclaimed RPG The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is getting its next-gen update later this year.

Polish developer CD Projekt Red has announced that this update will come in the “second half” of 2021 and will bring Geralt and friends (and enemies) to the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X.

Players who already have the game for the PS4, Xbox One, or PC will get a free update they can download while players who want to start with next gen consoles will be able to purchase the game as a standalone purchase.

The next-gen update is being developed externally by Saber Interactive, which is responsible for the Witcher 3 Switch port.

The President of CD Projekt Red said that the reason why the game was being updated this way was to extend the lifecycle of the game.

This piece of news comes soon after the company announced that it has cancelled a multiplayer Cyberpunk game.

CD Projekt Red has been making the news for all the wrong reasons since the end of last year due to the debacle that was the release of Cyberpunk 2077.
