The highly anticipated sequel to 2018’s God of War has been delayed to 2022. At the same time, it was also announced that the game would be released to both PS5 and PS4.
This information was revealed by the Head of PlayStation Studios, Herman Hulst in a Q&A on the PlayStation blog.
He stated that while Horizon Forbidden West is still on schedule, GoW would be pushed back due to work on it starting “a little later”. He added that this was being done to give the game time to become “the amazing God of War game we want to play”.
Santa Monica Studio echoed the statement on Twitter, adding that they were “humbled by the amount of love our community has shown us” since the reveal of a teaser for the next GoW game.
Now that we’ve talked about the delay, let’s talk about the game coming to the PS4.

Hulst went on to state that Sony would not abandon more than 110 million players on the PS4. At the same time, he stated that it was important for the PS5 to have exclusives as well.
Not much is known beyond this at the moment, unfortunately. However, this is excellent news for fans of the series who had been dreading the difficult task of obtaining a PS5, just to play the sequel.
