Hello and welcome, game-liker, to our coverage of the Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 as it is more commonly known.
Organized by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), the event has had a long run up to this point.
Let’s take a look at some of the notable announcements and details that have come out so far. (Let us know if we miss anything and we’ll be sure to include it next time!)
Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance
Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance is a game being developed by Tuque Games, with association with Wizards of the Coast, who own the brand.
We recently got a gameplay trailer for the game, along with a roadmap for how things will go post-launch. You can check out the trailer here. This trailer was made hilariously awesome by the narration provided by Jemaine Clement.
As for the post launch map, a picture is worth a thousand words. So take a look at a photo of this roadmap, along with a statement by the developers.

Free DLC 1: Wraiths
Our first planned DLC arrives this Summer (Winter for our southern hemisphere friends) and is free for everyone. This includes a new story mission over three levels, where you will battle a faction of Wraiths that are attempting to corrupt a forest spirit for their own gains.
That’s not all. We expect to add two-player split-screen play options to PC and Xbox Series X|S with this update.
Free DLC 2: Trolls
Our second planned DLC arrives this Fall (Spring in the southern hemisphere) and is also free for everyone. It will include a new story mission told over three levels. Trolls have invaded Kelvin’s Cairn and it’s up to you to eradicate them. This DLC will also add new challenge ratings to the game, giving you higher expert difficulties to overcome.
Echoes of the Blood War – Expansion
We’ll end the year with a large paid expansion Echoes of the Blood War. This expansion will add a brand-new, magic-using playable character to the game – the perfect addition to the party! Along with the new character comes a new storyline with new missions and new monsters.
Guilty Gear: Strive
Arc System Works has debuted the launch trailer and opening movie for Guilty Gear: Strive. The trailer and movie were debuted during their Early Access Showcase event.
The event featured general director Daisuke Ishiwatari and development director Akira Katano. They laid out the roadmap for the game post-release.
According to them, the season 1 pass for the game will add 5 new characters and 2 new stages called the “Guilty Gear Strive: Additional Color Pack” and “Another Story.
Here’s what we know about the release schedule:
July 2021
- Additional Character #1 – New playable character.
August 2021
- Additional Character #2 – New playable character.
After Fall 2021
- Additional Characters #3, #4, and #5 – New playable characters.
- Additional Battle Stages – Two new battle stages.
- Another Story
Aside from the season pass, the game will also introduce some free updates. The most notable one mentioned so far is a “Combo Maker”. This will allow players to create combos and share them with others online.
The game also comes with additional customization features for the player match room, along with a “Digital Figure Mode” that lets players create original dioramas using in-game models of characters.
You can watch the launch trailer here and the opening movie here.
Battlefield 2042
EA has finally unveiled the next iteration of its popular Battlefield series.
Dubbed Battlefield 2042, the game is coming to consoles and PC this October. Also, the game will not be featuring a single player campaign or a battle royale mode.
Instead, the focus will be on the multiplayer. The PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X versions of the game will be able to support 128 concurrent players while PS4 and Xbox One versions will support 64 concurrent players.
Also, despite the lack of a campaign, the game does have a narrative. It involves a humanitarian crisis caused by climate change. There seem to be a group of climate refugees who take up arms as the US and Russia engage in all out war.
You can watch the reveal trailer here. The game comes out on PC, PS5, Xbox Series S/X, PS4, and Xbox One on October 22.
