Final Fantasy IX to Become Animated Series

Square Enix and the Paris-based Cyber Group Studios will be working together to create an animated series based on Final Fantasy IX. Here’s what we know so far.

The series will be co-produced and co-developed by Cyber Group Studios and Square Enix. The series is stated to be a children’s show, aimed at 9 to 13-year-olds.

Cyber Group will also handle distribution, licensing, and merchandize. They are finishing up their production bible and will begin pitching the show to broadcasters in the coming months.

Final Fantasy IX is the story of a group of thieves who are hired to kidnap a princess, only to discover that she wishes to be taken away. The story only gets more intriguing from there, bringing in many lovable characters and plenty of emotional and comedic moments.

The CEO of Cyber Group Studios, Pierre Sissman said that the games have a strong co-viewing potential. He added that the series will hopefully immense those who don’t know the games in a world they will love, and that it will be a reintroduction for those who know the games.

The production of the show will begin at the end of 2021 or early 2022.
