SEGA announced Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicle. It is the video game adaption of the hit anime series that took the world by storm in 2019. It is also getting a western release.
The game is an area fighter that tells the events of the first season of the anime and the recently released movie, Demon Slayer The Movie: Infinite Train. According to SEGA, the game has 2 modes. In solo mode, where you play as Tanjiro follow his journey to turn his sister who became a demon, back into a human. In Versus Mode, you are able to play as Tanjiro, Nezuko and the characters from the anime and fight them in a 1v1 battle. This mode can be either played as offline or online with 2 players.
The game also brings back both the Japanese and English voice cast, who will reprises their roles in the anime and movie.
The game is published by Sega and is developed by CyberConnect2. The studio is well known for their anime adaptations. Most noticeably, the Naruto games and Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot.
SEGA also revealed a Digital and a Digital Deluxe edition for the game where the latter not only give you early access to the game but also, feature special cosmetics for $69.99. SEGA is also planning to release a physical version of the game for $59.99. Playstation and Steam users who buy the Digital Deluxe Edition will also gain access to 13 unique avatars .
The game is set to be released on 14th October 2021, for North America and Europe on 15th October 2021. The game will be available for all of the platform, both old and current generation consoles. Users who purchased the Digital Deluxe Edition will have access to early access on 13th October 2021.
