Nintendo Announces Nintendo Switch OLED Model

Nintendo has announced a new model of the Nintendo Switch.

The model is officially named, “Nintendo Switch – OLED Model” and was announced out of the blue.

The press release revealed that the new model have a similar size to the standard model but has a larger 7-inch OLED screen with slimmer bezels compared to the original Switch, which has a 6.2-inch LCD screen.

Additionally, it features a maximum resolution of 1920X1080 (1080p) and maximum frame rate of 60 fps. It should be noted that the new model has a video output of 1280X720 (720p) in both Tabletop mode and Handheld mode, similar to standard model.

The new model comes with an adjustable stand which covers the length of the unit itself, an improved dock with a wired LAN port, a built-in storage has been improved from 32gb to 64gb that can be further expanded using expansion cards, and improved audio.

Nintendo Switch OLED model comes in two colors, the White Set consist of white Joy-Con controllers and dock along with a black main unit. The other is the Neon Red/Neon Blue set, which is same as the original Switch that was launched with.

The new model is set to be released on 8th October 2021, which also happens to be the same day Metroid Dread is getting released.

According to Nintendo, the price for the new model will be $350, which is $50 more than the standard model which was released on 2017.
