Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) reported via a blogpost that they have sold over 10 million PlayStation 5 consoles since it’s initial release on November 12 2020.
Previously, this title was held by PS4 which sold over 10 million consoles in 268 days. PS5 managed to hit the 10 million mark within 248 days, 20 days ahead of the milestone. This is a remarkable achievement considering the supply challenges due to the coronavirus pandemic and scalping.
Fastest selling PS5 games include:
- Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales sold more than 6.5 million copies since the initial release on November 12, 2020. Here is our full review of the game.

Jim Ryan, President and CEO of SIE says they are committed to overcoming the challenges in order to increase the supply of PS5 consoles globally. “While PS5 has reached more households faster than any of our previous consoles, we still have a lot of work ahead of us as demand for PS5 continues to outstrip supply. I want gamers to know that while we continue to face unique challenges throughout the world that affect our industry and many others, improving inventory levels remains a top priority for SIE.”
Looking ahead, the lineup for the upcoming PlayStation games includes titles like Horizon Forbidden West, a sequel to the critically acclaimed Horizon Zero Dawn. Battlefield 2042 from Electronic Arts and sequel to God of War by Santa Monica Studios.
