Gamescom Opening Night Highlights

Gamescom is underway with Geoff Keighley hosting the opening live stream. During the stream a lot of interesting trailers for upcoming titles were revealed along with some surprises.

Let’s have a look at some of the big announcements from the stream.


Halo Infinite


Halo Infinite is releasing on December 8, 2021 for Xbox X|S, Xbox One and PC.

Halo Infinite themed Xbox controller alongside a limited edition Xbox Series X was also revealed.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns

Marvel’s Midnight Suns is being developed by the team behind XCOM. Releasing March, 2022.

Rise up and join a darker order of heroes to defeat Lilith before the Darkhold is complete in this tactical RPG set in the darker side of the Marvel Universe.


Saint’s Row Reboot

A cinematic reveal trailer for the upcoming reboot of Saint’s Row along with a very brief gameplay footage was revealed.

In a world rife with crime, where lawless factions fight for power, a group of young friends embark on their own criminal venture, as they rise to the top in their bid to become Self Made.

Saints Row will be released on February 25, 2022 on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, and PC.

Outlast Trails

A new Outlast game from Red Barrels titled Outlast Trails debuted it’s first gameplay trailer. Releasing in 2022 for PC.

Set in the height of the Cold War era, players take on the role of test subjects abducted by the shadowy Murkoff Corporation. Imprisoned in a secret Murkoff facility, players will be thrust into a series of physical and mental ordeals, tormented by iconic characters, and challenged alone or in teams to survive with their sanity intact.

DokeV

The team behind Black Desert announced an online creature collecting, action RPG titled Dokev. No confirmed release date has been set as of yet.

Dive into a gorgeous and lively world where Dokebi and humans live side-by-side!


Opening Night Live was full of announcements and trailers with a lot to unpack. A reveal trailer for Call of Duty: Vanguard was premiered with a release date set for November 5th. King of Fighters XV was premiered with a release date trailer showcasing a revamped system featuring 39 characters. KOF XV is releasing on February 2022.

A new story trailer for Synced: Off-Planet was also revealed. The story takes place in a near future where robots have turned against the humans. Synced: Off-Planet is described as a PvPvE game where you’ll “fight together against enemy teams and synchronize with Nano companion classes to deploy in combat”.

Horizon: Forbidden West has been pushed back to February 22, 2022 releasing on both the PS4 and PS5. Like Horizon: Zero Dawn, there is a very high chance that Forbidden West could also make it’s way to PC as well. Some other games locked in the release dates as well, with Sifu releasing on February 22,2022 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge set for release on 2022 along with a brand new trailer featuring April O’Neil as a playable character.
