A video game based on the 2018 movie A Quiet Place has been announced.

The game is being developed by Saber Interactive, iLLOGIKA, and EP1T0ME. The current release date for the game is simply “2022”.

According to the developers, the game will be “an untold story of survival in the A Quiet Place universe”. This suggests that the game will not follow the events of the movie.

A statement released by Saber Interactive said that this is the first game set in that universe and that they aim to deliver an original story and gameplay that captures the compelling suspense, emotion, and drama the series is known for.

There is an official website but it doesn’t have much beyond the logo and a tentative release date of 2022.

A Quiet Place is a movie where they have to be super quiet or risk getting attacked by monsters (this is a super simplified explanation, go watch the movie). Translating this to video games it’s possible that they intend to make a stealth horror game.

While this sounds great on paper, the reality is that neither stealth nor horror are new in gaming. We’ve had titles of both genres for years. There has been much innovation and experimentation in both genres.

So whether a game based on A Quiet Place universe has anything new to offer as a horror game or stealth game (or both) remains to be seen.
