Director Gives Update on Devil May Cry: Animated Series

A while back, it was announced that the Executive Producer and showrunner of the highly acclaimed Castlevania Netflix series, Adi Shankar would be helming a similar series for the Devil May Cry series of video games.

Shankar has recently given us some updates on the upcoming Devil May Cry series, so let’s take a look at what he revealed.

According to an interview with IGN Japan, the scripts for the first season of the show have been completed. Shankar also expressed excitement over the quality of the scripts.

Shankar shares writing credit on the project with Alex Larsen who wrote the Netflix anime, Yasuke.

He went on to reveal that the first season will have eight episodes, which will lead into a multi-seasonal story arc, just like Castlevania.

While he couldn’t confirm any story specifics right now, Shankar did state that beloved characters from the series such as Vergil and Lady will be appearing in the series.

He also confirmed that Chris Pratt will be voicing none of the characters of the show.

Shankar has been directly working with Hiroyuki Kobayashi, who is a veteran producer known for his work on the original Resident Evil and Devil May Cry games, along with the 2007 DMC anime by studio Madhouse.

The show was first announced in 2018 and will likely go into production in 2022.

There is currently no known release date.
