Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 8 has come to an explosive close with a massive finale event.

The event, appropriately dubbed “The End”, has resulted in some major reveals and the Fortnite island literally flipping over.

Before we talk about that, let’s set the stage:

Fortnite’s “The End” event involved the players doing various activities while a large timer ticked down. 

Things were generally calm until around the 9 minute mark, at which point Cube Monsters armed with legendary weapons and mounted turrets began invading the players’ reality.

When the timer went to zero, the alien armada featured in Chapter 2, Season 7 came through a portal to challenge the players.

At this point, the players saw a cutscene of Dr. Slone in a secret base after having captured Jonesy. 

Before they could do anything to him, he was rescued by the Foundation, who removed his helmet and revealed that he is… Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson?

After this, the players made a dash for the core of the island and in the ensuing chaos, water flooded the area and the island itself tipped to one side.

It was then that we found out that on the reverse side of the island is… another island?!

Epic Games took Fortnite down for maintenance but it should return soon. 

In the meantime, fans have a lot to chew on and be hyped for. 

What is this new island? What kind of cool new locations are on it? What new stories will be told here? Also, the Foundation is THE ROCK? What?!

Say what you will about Fortnite and its increasing influence on gaming but one can’t deny that they know how to do awesome events.
