Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Announced

Yesterday’s Pokémon Day celebrations were rocked by the announcement of two new mainline Pokémon games! In short, we just got introduced to Gen 9 of Pokémon!

Dubbed Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, the games will reportedly be “a richly expressed open world” game.

The Pokémon Company claimed that towns and the wilderness will blend seamlessly together with no borders.

It also claimed that we will be able to see the Pokémon of the region in the land, sky, sea, forests, and more.

The next bit of information we know is regarding the starter Pokémon.

As per every generation, we’ve been shown three starter Pokémon; a grass type, a fire type, and a water type.

First up, we have Sprigatito, the Grass Cat Pokémon. Described as capricious and attention-seeking, this cute Pokémon looks like it might be a big hit with both cat and plant lovers.

Then, there’s Fuecoco, the “Fire Croc” Pokémon. This Pokémon is apparently quite laid back and likes to do things at its own pace. Honestly, same.

Last but not least comes Quaxly, the Duckling Pokémon. Described as “earnest and tidy” this Pokémon comes with an amazing hairdo that we can’t wait to see evolve with the mon.

The game will reportedly coming out sometime this year, which is amazing considering that Pokémon Legends: Arceus came out not too long ago!

We can’t wait to try it out.

But before we end it, let’s talk about the new starter Pokémon.

Every time a new set of starter Pokémon is announced, the community goes through a bit of a process of learning to love them. Favorites are picked and opinions are formed.

So we were wondering, which of these starter Pokémon do you like the most? Why?

You can check out the reveal trailer for the games below.
