Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that it acquired Haven Studios.
Haven Studios is a studio founded by influential game developer, Jade Raymond. She is best known for helping create the Assassin’s Creed and Watch Dogs franchises. She also created Ubisoft Toronto, which went on to develop games such as Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist.
According to a statement it released on the PlayStation Blog, Sony began working with Raymond and her team in early 2021 right as the studio was forming. It said that the team’s vision for creating a modern multiplayer experience inspired it.
This new acquisition comes one year after their official partnership.
Sony also stated that Haven Studios will be working on a new, original IP for PlayStation.
What this is, we cannot say yet. However, the writing on the wall suggests that it might be some sort of new live service game.
We will keep up with what becomes of this partnership as it unfolds.
