New details of the new update 2.7 for Genshin Impact were showcased by miHoYo on Twitch on May 20, 2022.

The official name for this update is “Hidden Dreams in the Depths” and is set to go live on May 31, 2022.

The livestream revealed lots of new information.

So let’s break it down and take a look at what’s coming in update 2.7!

Character

Yelan

A mysterious person who claims to work for the Ministry of Civil Affairs in Liyue, Yelan is joining the roster.

The mysterious owner of Liyue’s Yanshang Teahouse, but her true identity is hard to explain in a few words. Known as “a person with many faces,” Yelan appears in various guises, pulls strings behind events, and disappears before anyone notices.

She is also an excellent special intelligence officer, helping Ningguang to protect Liyue.

Yelan enjoys living life on the edge, and her activities have taken her across the other nations of Teyvat, and even to the Abyss.

She is a bow user who wields the Hydro (Water) element. She is not only the 7th Hydro character but also the 11th bow character.

In the case of her Normal Attack “Stealthy Bowshot”, she will enter a Breakthrough State after a short time out of combat which will cause her next charged aimed shot to have decreased charge time, and once charged, she can fire a Breakthrough Bard that will deal AoE Hydro DMG.

In the case of her Elemental Skill “Lingering Lifeline”, pressing or holding the skill button allows her to move rapidly using her lifeline, marking opponents along her path. When her rapid move ends, the lifeline will explode dealing Hydro DMG to marked targets.

Yelan also has a fixed change to reset her Breakthrough State based on the number of opponents marked.

In the case of her Elemental Burst “Depth-Clarion Dice”, she deals AoE Hydro DMG and creates wondrous stacks, which aid her in battle. The dice follow the character around and will initiate a coordinated attack when your active character uses the normal attack and each time Yelan’s lifeline explodes and hits opponents.

With her Passive Talent “Adapt With Ease”, the active character’s damage increases over time while the dice is active. Also her Max HP increases based on the number of Elemental Types that are present in the party.

Kuki Shinobu

The sidekick of Arataki Itto and Deputy Leader of the Arataki Gang, Kuki Shinobu is joining the roster!

Born in a family of shrine maidens, Shinobu took a very different path. She has learned a variety of crafts and skills and obtained so many professional certificates that her business card can’t even list them all. She even studied law in Liyue as a junior alumna of Yanfei.

She is a sword user who wields the Electro element. She is not only the 9th Electro character but also the 11th sword character.

With her Elemental Skill “Sanctifying Ring”, she will sacrifice a certain portion of her HP and create a Grass Ring of Sanctification that will heal friendly characters within and deal continuous Electro DMG to surrounding opponents.

Shinobu’s healing and damage will be boosted based on her Elemental Mastery, and her Healing Bonus can be further increased if her HP is down to a certain level.

With her Elemental Burst “Gyoei Narukami Kariyama Rite”, she creates a special field in front that deals continuous Electro damage to opponents within.

Quest

Archon Quest

There is going to be a new Archon Quest in this update.

Like last time, the archon quest will also take place deep inside The Chasm and will feature a cast of characters: Yelan, Arataki Itto, Kuki Shinobu, Yanfei and Xiao.

According to the livestream, we are going to learn about Liyue and Yakshas’ history from 500 years ago!

Story Quest

There is going to be a story quest that will come with the new update. This story quest will be Yelan’s story quest, “Umbrabilis Orchis Chapter: Act 1”

We will get to see how the master of intelligence and disguise operates in tough scenarios to uncover the truth.

Hangout Quest

In update 2.7 we are getting a new Hangout Quest which will be Shinobu’s.

Not only we will get to see the daily life on the Arataki Gang but also get to know about her past.

Banners

Character

There are going to be three character banners in update 2.7.

In the first phase, there will be only two characters that will be in the character banner. The new character Yelan and Xiao.

This is going to be Xiao’s 2nd rerun. It is worth mentioning that he got a rerun very recently in Update 2.5, which was 4 months ago.

In the second phase it will be Arataki Itto that will be featured in the character banner.

This is the first time he is getting a rerun.

Weapon

There is going to be 2 new weapons that will be introduced in Update 2.7.

The first new weapon is called Aqua Simulacra and it will be a 5 star weapon.

It is likely that this weapon will be the Best in Slot (BiS) weapon for Yelan.

This weapon will be in the banner for the first half of the update along with “Primodial Jade Winged Spear” which is Xiao’s BiS weapon. Although this weapon is part of the Standard Banner, this going to be the third it will feature in the Weapon banner.

Along with that weapon, the Redhorn Stonethresher is also making a comeback. This is Itto’s BiS weapon and this is going to be its first rerun.

The new weapon is called “Fading Twilight” and its going to be a 4 star bow weapon. More on this later.

Events

Perilous Trail

The event is going to tie-in with the Archon Quest.

‘Realms of Guile and War” is the domain challenge under the Perilous Trail event.

There will be four domain stages and will be unlocked as the Archon Quest progresses. For the first three domains, you need to complete three combat rounds. Completing three challenges is equivalent to one combat round.

In total, you need to complete nine challenges for one domain!

You will get the new 4 star bow from this event as part of the rewards

A Muddy Bizarre Adventure

This event is related to the Pursina’s Spikes that was first introduced in the “Shadow of the Ancients” event in Update 2.2. Here, you need to work on the devices and protect it to help Hosseini, a scholar from Sumeru, solve a crisis in The Chasm!

The Almighty Arataki Great and Glorious Drumalong Festival

The Arataki gang is going hold a new event to celebrate Shinobu’s graduation of her studies of law in Liyue.

The event is going to be another rhythm game. You are going to play using a drum.

The livestream also revealed what songs that are going to be featured in the event and it looks like it will be character themes.

Each song can be played in Normal, Hard, or Pro Difficulty. All difficulties will be unlocked as soon as the song is available, so players can choose whichever difficulty you prefer!

Since the game can be played in different devices, the event has a Lag Calibration option, where players can adjust the decision line and Calibration Value to account for their device’s needs.

Core of the Apparatus

In this event, you are going to make a robot. Yes, you did read it correctly!

You are going to help a toy merchant from Fontaine create robots and furnishings by collecting various materials.

Quality of Life Updates

miHoYo is adding a “Challenge Feature” to high level material domains. It gives tips on how to quickly defeat the monsters which will then help you strategize and pick the right team for that domain.

There is also going to be detailed tips on how to build your characters. When you open the character talents menu, you can use the “Talent Reference” to see talent priority recommendations from actual data of other active players.

Using the “Attribute Reference” in the character artifacts menu, you can see the main attribute usage statistics for each artifact slot.

miHoYo wants to give more data to you to reference when you build your characters.

They also revealed that they have been optimizing the game’s CPU performance on both PS4 and PS5. With Version 2.7, players should be able to feel the game running more smoothly, especially on PS4.

For PlayStation Plus members, there will be a PS Plus Pack which includes Mora ×50,000, Hero’s Wit ×20, Mystic Enhancement Ore ×15, and Fragile Resin ×2 during the upcoming Version 2.7. After each version update, this bundle will be refreshed and you can purchase it for free again.
