The Finnish studio Remedy Entertainment has announced that Control 2, the sequel to 2019’s Control, is currently in development.
According to a blogpost by Remedy Entertainment, Remedy and 505 Games will be co-developing and co-publishing the sequel. This sequel was previously known as Project Heron and was thought of as a spinoff rather than a sequel.
The game director Mikael Kasurinen stated that this was the most exciting project he’s ever worked on.
Remedy Entertainment had previously stated that Control 2 was in the conceptual stage. This new announcement seems to be a progression from that.
That being said, this is not the only Control game in development. There is also a 4 player cooperative PvE title that is in development.
While on topic, it is also worth noting that the main character of Remedy Entertainment’s Alan Wake featured in one of Control’s DLCs and that a sequel for Alan Wake has been announced for 2023.
The connections between both games place them in the same fictional universe. How this universe develops over time will undoubtedly be fascinating to watch.
As for the original Control, the game was met with much positive reception upon release. Critics and players praised its story, world building, visuals, and environment design.
