Earlier this week, several players trying to log into Call of Duty: Warzone 2 were locked out from playing the game following a glitch that asks them to buy Modern Warfare 2. This happens even if they own the game already.
According to PC Gamer, the glitch was discovered after the developer Infinity Ward administered a hotfix for another issue with the game.
Neither Infinity Ward or Activision Blizzard had acknowledged the issue at the time and there was no known fix.
And in case you were wondering, purchasing Modern Warfare 2 doesn’t fix the issue either. As mentioned before, players who already own the game were still subjected to this issue. Plus, players who opt for the free-to-play Warzone 2 shouldn’t have to purchase another game to play the former.
One Reddit user said that they played 6 matches without issue before the problem popped up.
Currently, there are a few guides on how to bypass this issue but solo players have no reliable way to get through.
What Infinity Ward or Activision Blizzard intends to do about this potentially game breaking bug remains to be seen.
