Bethesda Indicates Starfield to Launch Early This Year

In a recent blogpost on Bethesda website, they have reiterated that Starfield will be arriving exclusively to PC and Xbox during the first half of 2023.

Originally, Starfield was slated for release on November 11,2022. However, Bethesda delayed the release of both Starfield and Arkane’s FPS game Redfall to 2023.

“We’ve made the decision to delay the launches of Redfall and Starfield to the first half of 2023. The teams at Arkane Austin (Redfall) and Bethesda Game Studios (Starfield) have incredible ambitions for their games, and we want to ensure that you receive the best, most polished versions of them.”

Starfield was announced during Bethesda’s E3 Press Conference in 2018. Last June, an impressive 15-minute gameplay reveal of Starfield was premiered during the Bethesda Games Showcase. Starfield will be Bethesda’s first original RPG in over 25 years with over 1,000 planets and a multitude of space religions.

Todd Howard says that the decision to delay the game was a tough call to make, but this is the right thing to do in order to make sure the game really shines in the Xbox consoles by working with the top engineers in the company.

It is unlikely that Starfield will make its way to other consoles, with the acquisition of Bethesda by Microsoft the studio will not be releasing its future games to PlayStation. Pete Hines, SVP of Global Marketing and Communications at Bethesda says that he understands that this will be a concern for PlayStation players but this is a way to ensure that the games run better on the native consoles by focusing on fewer platform releases.
