Stardew Valley is Now an eSport

The creator of Stardew Valley Eric Barone, also known as Concerned Ape, has announced the first ever Stardew Valley Cup, which means that the game is now technically an esport.

The cup will reportedly take place on 4 September. It will pit 4 teams against each other and they must earn points by completing activities. This gives them stand the chance to win a prize pool of almost USD 40,000.

The teams that will be taking part are Sandy’s Candies, Pierree’s Cherries, Pam’s Yams, and Krobus’s Crocuses.

The cup is being run in coordination with the Stardew Valley YouTuber, Unsurpassable Z. Unsurpassable Z released a video saying that there are over 100 different challenges with varying numbers of points to be earned. The more difficult the task, the higher the points earned upon completion.

Some examples of tasks include completing the Community Center and reaching level 100 in the Skull Cavern.

The teams will be competing simultaneously for the duration of the tournament and earning points.

They also are able to see what the challenges are and can prepare in advance by planning. However, there are 5 secret challenges that the teams don’t know about as well.

When we came across this piece of news, at first we were surprised. But after learning all this, we are very interested to see this cup. It sounds incredibly fun and is a great way to appreciate the game and its community.

We are looking forward to the cup and will report on it when it concludes.
