The Month of Emmen

Greetings and salutations once again to our beloved followers and fans! It’s your Editor once again, back with an announcement.

Emmen Gaming turns one today!

To put it another way, we are celebrating a whole year of our existence as the premiere games media of the Maldives today.

To celebrate our first birthday, we will be shaking things up a little.

For the next 4 weeks, you will see everything you’ve come to expect about Emmen Gaming, but with a new twist.

However, before we talk about this “Month of Emmen” as we are calling it, let’s take a moment to reflect on our first year. And what a year it’s been!

The Road So Far

When we started Emmen Gaming, we wanted to make a local podcast about gaming and review games. That was it.

However, as time went on, we realized that we also had an interest in conveying not just gaming opinion, but gaming fact. Creating news was the natural extension of this mentality.

As we gained more experience handling gaming news, we also started featuring more and more local gaming news. This was something we were very happy about as one of the reasons why we do this is to foster the love for gaming in our local community.

Although we started our news journey with photos and a short snippet of information, we eventually debuted our website and took things to the next level. We could finally link to our own original writing instead of to the work of others.

We were both happy and proud to be able to contribute something of our very own to the gaming sphere.

Another point worth mentioning is that with the advent of our website, we were also able to dip our toes into writing features about gaming.

To the uninitiated, a feature article is one that goes in depth into a particular topic, similar to an analysis. This differs from news due to the specific focus and the presence of analysis or interpretation.

Anatomy of a Boss, that one article about Tenchu, how Genshin Impact brought people together, and many more feature articles now exist on our website as wholly original content by us and our wonderful collaborators.

With the great support such articles have received, we are definitely interested in writing more. We hope you look forward to them in the days to come.

While all this was going on, our podcast was also flourishing. We were able to invite and speak to some prominent and underrated figures in the local gaming community. We learned a lot from artists, competitive players, and even individuals working in the industry itself.

We will be expanding this aspect of our podcast so expect more interesting guests and topics on season 2 of Checkpoint Coffee.

Last but certainly not least, we were also able to steadily grow our social media presence thanks to each and every one of you.

Your continued support and interest motivates us to continuously raise the bar on our content.

It has allowed us to put our hearts into a year of Emmen Gaming. We’ve learned a lot and are ready to take things to the next level.

So, let’s talk about what that’s going to be like.

The Road to Come

So what’s next for Emmen Gaming? What is this “Month of Emmen”? Let’s break it down.

The Month of Emmen is the name we have given to the next four weeks. During this time, we will be celebrating the one year anniversary of Emmen Gaming in various ways.

First and foremost, we will be tweaking the visual aesthetic of Emmen Gaming.

Throughout the next four weeks, we will be slowly unveiling the changes we’ve brought to every aspect of Emmen Gaming from our news content to our podcast.

The schedule for unveiling the newly redesigned content is as follows:

  • Week 1 – We will be unveiling our new look for our daily news, along with an updated look for our streaming posts.
  • Week 2 – We will be showcasing the new design for feature articles, along with a sample of what they will be like, going forward.
  • Week 3 – We will debut our new look and format for video reviews.
  • Week 4 – We will bring back our gaming podcast, Checkpoint Coffee for an all new season with a new look, new guests, and new topics.

We are very excited to show you all the changes that we have planned for our content.

Aside from visual changes, we will also be bringing slight tweaks to the content itself. Though I don’t want to spoil it all, I can reveal some information.

For instance, we will be bringing major tweaks to our reviews. We want to move away from quantitative or numbers-based review scores and more towards a quantitative or descriptive way of reviewing games.

We feel that this can help convey the positives and negatives of a wide variety of games better without inviting unfair comparisons between them.

Expect to see some changes to the type of topics we address on the podcast as well. We want to be deeper and broader into gaming as an industry, a hobby, a business, and a cultural phenomenon.

There’s a lot happening this month and we can’t wait to share it all with you!

Gaming for Everyone

The last thing I want to talk about is you, the reader.

I would like to take this opportunity to express our collective gratitude and appreciation to each and every one of you for your ongoing support and interest in our content.

We literally would not be here without all of you.

We thank you all for the love you’ve given us so far and hope that you’ve been enjoying our content so far.

And now that Emmen Gaming is one years old, we will be evolving to commemorate this. We will be taking everything you loved about our content and elevating it, while also breathing new life into it.

There are also new types of content planned… but that’s a spoiler.

For now, thank you for your support. It was instrumental in motivating us to do what we did as consistently as we did it.

We hope you enjoyed the first year of Emmen Gaming and look forward to journeying through the second year with you all.
